Moving Crib - Frýdlantské Jesličky

The attractive moving crib, installed in one of the oldest buildings in Frýdlant, was created by Gustav Simon, a native of Frýdlant. The crib is situated in the room where the sculptor spent a considerable part of his life.

The work lasted more than 60 years. The nativity scene was not made available to the public until it was complete. First, the figures were still; later a clock mechanism was added and the figures started moving. At present, due to the mechanism and a rope, more than a hundred figures - people and animals - are moving.

The crib is on display in a house in Zahradní Street, not far from T.G.Masaryk Square, behind the car park near the post-office.
